People in the EPIC Lab

Manlu Liu is a third-year PhD student in the MIS Department at the University of Arizona and a research associate in the EPIC lab at the University of Arizona. Her research interests include decision making on IT investments, open source software development, service-oriented architectures, and business process management. Currently, she is studying a new approach in open source software development called community source. Community source is defined as an open source project that requires significant investments from institutional partners in both human resources and cash contributions. Her research addresses two issues in community source. The first issue is why these institutions are interested in investing the community source given the result is open source. The second issue is how to achieve technology flexibility in community source using service-oriented architectures. In addition, she also studies the transformation issue between conceptual business process models and logical workflow models. She has completed four research papers with others on the topics aforementioned. For additional information, please see her vita (click here).
