People in the EPIC Lab

Daning Hu is a fourth-year PhD student in the MIS Department and a research associate in the EPIC lab at the University of Arizona. His research interests include social network analysis, open source software (OSS) development, knowledge management, and business process management. Currently, he is using social network analysis (SNA) to analyze various relations among members in an open source software development community. His research aims to answer two research questions: 1) How to identify the determinants (e.g., programming skills, project contributions) for the formation of various relations (e.g., emails, collaborations, evaluations) in OSS communities? 2) How to utilize information about these determinants as semantics of the network links in OSS communities for expert recommendation and efficient knowledge transfer? He has completed six research papers with others on the topics aforementioned. He also analyzed science and engineering literature based on paper/patent repositories using bibliographic and network analysis techniques for mapping the Nanotechnology knowledge domain.
In addition, Daning minors in Finance and studies corporate supply networks in financial markets using SNA methods. For additional information, please see his vita ( click here).
