People in the EPIC Lab

Shaokun Fan is a second-year PhD student in the MIS Department at the University of Arizona and a research associate in the EPIC lab at the University of Arizona. His research interests include business process management, workflow modeling and verification, service oriented architecture, and scientific workflow. His master project is about workflow modeling and verification where a novel workflow model is proposed to analyze interactions between data flow and control flow in workflow applications. He has also published three academic articles in those areas. Currently, he is working on the NSF project—“SOFTSIM - a Testbed for Process-Driven and Simulation-Based Knowledge Conglomeration in Enterprise Software Development”. He has also integrated this project with some of his research topics, which include how to transform conceptual business process model into logical workflow model and how to evaluate the two models are semantically consistent. The outcome of these researches will bridge the gap between business requirements and workflow systems.
